Our volunteers run a wide range of projects that benefit the community:

Books for Beginners & Books for Bubs

The club runs two literacy programs which encourage little ones to discover the joy of reading.

Books for Beginners involves club volunteers visiting local schools to read to students. Three books are read to the children, before they are asked to choose their favourite book - which we then purchase and deliver to the schools.

Books for Bubs is another wonderful program where babies can receive a free book from us, through the Colac Otway Shire Maternal and Child Health Centre. We thank the Colac Community Fund (part of the South West Community Fund) for their grant which funds Books for Bubs.

Eat Up Colac

Twice a term, our club holds hands-on sandwich-making workshops to make lunches for local children who'd otherwise go hungry at school.

During these workshops, we make cheese and vegemite sandwiches and combine them with snacks such as muesli bars, biscuits, apples, carrots and celery to ensure no child goes without.

We currently support 10 schools in Colac & district. If you are interested in volunteering or joining our list of schools, please get in touch.

Walk for Respect

The Walk for Respect is an annual event at Colac's Memorial Square which invites the public to stand together and say NO to domestic violence.

This year's free community walk will take place on Saturday 24 October from 10.30am. The Walk for Respect is open to all within our district who want to make a statement and show their support for the cause.

There will be inspiring speakers, informative speakers, information on hand, OCR FM broadcasting, as well as a free Meat Crew sausage sizzle and free Bulla ice creams.

Share the Dignity

Share the Dignity encourages Colac and district residents to donate sanitary items for those in need.

During the month of August, pink collection boxes are located at Colac’s Woolworths and Blooms the Chemist to collect donations of unopened period products and incontinence aids for those who are doing it tough.

Our volunteers collect, count and then distribute the donated products to welfare agencies around Colac, to help ensure no woman, girl or person with a period has to choose between eating dinner or managing their period with dignity.
